
Huppee and Martens Take SUNYAC Women's Volleyball Weekly Awards
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Emily Huppee from Morrisville earns her third SUNYAC Women's Volleyball Offensive Athlete of the Week award this season while Cortland's Mikenzie Martens is the Defensive Athlete of the Week for the fourth straight week.
Huppee led Morrisville to a 2-0 week in SUNYAC play as they recorded 3-1 match wins over Potsdam and Plattsburgh for the 4-0 league start. On Friday the senior put away 20 kills to contribute to the Mustangs offensive efforts, adding three assists and recording an ace, while posting 14 digs and an assisted block. Huppee added another 20 kills against Plattsburgh Saturday, where she served up an additional three aces and added five digs. Across the week she averaged 5.0 kills per set, and .5 aces per set, while collecting a total 19 digs.
Martens averaged 5.0 digs per set during a 3-0 road weekend for the Red Dragons. She matched her career high with 31 digs in a three-set win at Clarkson on Saturday and also had nine digs in a win at Potsdam and five digs in a win at Plattsburgh.
