Four SUNYAC athletes earn ECAC honors

Cortland, N.Y. – Four SUNYAC athletes have been honored by the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) for their performances for the week ending September 28. Two of the four athletes come from Geneseo, Cassie Goodman (Phelps, N.Y.) was chosen as the Female Runner of the Week, and Cohen Miles-Rath (Cohocton, N.Y.) was chosen as the Male Runner of the Week. The next honoree from Cortland, Renee Walker (Coram, N.Y.), has been picked as the Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the week. The final athlete chosen was Sarah Grupp (Charlottesville, VA) from Oswego, as the Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week.

This is Goodman's second time this season earning the Female Runner of the Week honor. This week she had a first place finish at the NCAA Division III Pre-National Meet. She was 17 seconds faster than the second place finisher out of 321 women, with a time of 20:54.56 in the 6K race.

Miles-Rath the senior, led Geneseo to a second place finish out of 31 teams at the NCAA Division III Pre-National Meet. Out of 375 runners he finished the 8K course in 24:02.62 earning him second place.

Walker had her first two career starts last weekend. The Sophomore goalkeeper helped the Red Dragons finish the week 1-0-1, with a 0.44GA, .917 save percentage and one shutout. She totaled 11 saves over the week, eight in the double overtime tie against New Paltz, and three in the shutout victory against Oneonta.

Grupp scored her first collegiate goal during the week, along with the game-winning goal against New Paltz.
