Fitzgerald Repeats as SUNYAC Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - New Paltz's Brianna Fitzgerald repeats as the SUNYAC Women's Basketball Athlete of the week, earning her fourth nod this season.

Fitzgerald had a historic week after leading the Hawks to three wins over SUNYAC opponents. She made history, becoming just the second Hawk ever to record a triple-double - and the first since 1999 and the third all-time since the program's inception - posting 16 points, 11 rebounds 10 assists with five steals and two blocks in a 75-52 win over Brockport. The following day, Fitzgerald notched her third career 30-point outing and registered her eighth double-double of the season, finishing with 30 points, 11 rebounds, three blocks and five steals in a 75-52 win over Geneseo. Earlier in the week, Fitzgerald totaled a team-high 18 points and was one rebound shy of a double-double, recording nine rebounds, team-high five assists and three blocks with two steals. Through this past week's three-game stretch, Fitzgerald averaged 21.3 points per game, shooting more than 51 percent from the field, while pulling down 10.3 rebounds per game and averaging nearly six assists, four steals and three blocks per game to lead the Hawks to an 18-3 overall record and first place in the SUNYAC going into the last two weeks of the regular season.
