NEW PALTZ, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's basketball team traveled to New Paltz to take on the Cortland Red Dragons in the semifinals of the SUNYAC playoffs on Friday night. Geneseo's Hannah Stockman hit a last-second three-pointer to seal their 61-58 victory and an appearance in the SUNYAC Championship game on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Senior guard Kiley Snow scored the Knights' first six points on back-to-back three-pointers in the first quarter. Layups by junior guard Mackenzie Reigle and senior forward Kerry Dennin extended Geneseo's lead to eight halfway through the frame. Late free throws sent the Knights to the second quarter with a 22-16 lead.

  • Geneseo came out slower in the second quarter, but a layup from Reigle put an end to a cold streak on offense. A last minute three-pointer from sophomore guard Maggie McGrane put Geneseo back ahead 29-27 before halftime.

  • Out of the break, the Knights went on a five-point run to take a 38-34 advantage halfway through the third quarter. Snow hit another three-pointer along with two layups to finish out the third to send the game to the final quarter with a 46-41 lead.

  • The fourth quarter was a back-and-forth battle with the Knights going up by nine in the opening minutes. The Red Dragons fought back though, and eventually took a 58-55 lead with less than three minutes remaining. A three-pointer from graduate guard Hannah Stockman tied the game back up at 58. After a big stop by the defense, Stockman took another three and sank it with just a couple seconds remaining on the clock, sealing the Knights' victory and SUNYAC Championship appearance.
