GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's basketball team hosted the Oneonta Red Dragons in the first round of the SUNYAC playoffs on Tuesday night. The Knights rode a strong fourth quarter to come away with a 64-52 victory and continue their journey towards a SUNYAC title. The win also marked head coach Alyssa Polosky's 100th career win.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The opening quarter saw junior guard Mackenzie Reigle and senior forward Kerry Dennin hit early shots to tie the game at four. After going down 10-4, however, the Knights' offense went on an eight-point run to take the lead. A late three-pointer from senior guard Kiley Snow along with another layup by Dennin and a free throw from freshman forward Kristin Suydam gave Geneseo a 18-17 lead heading into the second quarter.
  • Freshman forward Audrey Hintz kicked off the second frame for the Knights by scoring back-to-back layups and extending their lead. Consecutive shots by Reigle and free throws from Snow sent the game to the half tied at 30.
  • Another made three by Snow put Geneseo back in the lead early in the third quarter, but a four-minute dry spell gave way for Oneonta to take advantage. Trailing by three late in the third, Reigle and Snow hit the free-throw line and tied the game back up at 40 heading into the final quarter of regulation.
  • The fourth quarter was a back-and-forth battle for the opening two minutes, before back-to-back threes from graduate guard Hannah Stockman and Snow  extended the Knights' lead to seven. A seven-point run quickly followed and gave Geneseo a double-digit lead for the first time in the game. Late free throws sealed the 64-52 victory and sent the Knights to the SUNYAC semifinals.
