SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The SUNYAC has selected Cortland's Gianna Trunfio as this week's Field Hockey Offensive Athlete of the Week and Brockport's Ella BUchanan the Defensive Athlete of the Week.
In a 3-0 week in which Cortland outscored its opponents, 25-1, Trunfio led the way offensively for the 15th-ranked Red Dragons (12-1) scoring 12 points on six goals. Trunfio tallied four goals, including the game winner, in a home victory versus Hartwick on Thursday and two goals with another game winner in a home win versus St. John Fisher on Sunday. For the season, Trunfio leads Cortland with 29 points on a team-high 14 goals and one assist.
Buchanan posted a 2-0 record across 90 minutes of action, including a 7-save shutout in a 1-0 win against Oswego last Saturday to secure Brockport's first 10-win season since 2011.
