PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State men's ice hockey program raised over $9,000 for the ALS Foundation and T-Reg Study over its ALS Awareness Weekend that was held on Friday, Nov. 1, and Saturday, Nov. 2, as announced by head coach Steve Moffat on Thursday.

Plattsburgh State Athletics Hall of Famer and former Cardinal Hockey great Lenny Pereira ('94), who is currently battling ALS, was recognized along with his wife Rachael and daughters, Kylie and MaKayla. Lenny Pereira helped steer the Cardinals to a national title during his freshman season in 1991-92 and SUNYAC titles in 1991-92 and 1992-93, earning SUNYAC Tournament MVP honors in 1991-92. He ranks third all-time on the program's career points list (234).

"We are grateful that Lenny and his family, who are cherished in Cardinal Country, were able to be a part of this event, which we hope raised awareness of ALS while supporting ALS research." Moffat said. "We are thankful for the Cardinal Hockey Alumni, who made donations and came to the games to show their support of Lenny. In addition, long-time Cardinal hockey supporters Jim and Diane Barr were instrumental to the success of the weekend."

Plattsburgh State men's ice hockey will hold its Military Appreciation Night this Friday, Nov. 15, when the Cardinals face Fredonia at the Ronald B. Stafford Ice Arena. Puck drop of the SUNYAC game is scheduled for 7 p.m.
