Plattsburgh's Tretowicz, Dahl, & Poreda earn PrestoSports Men's Ice Hockey Weekly Honors
CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has selected three Plattsburgh players for this week's men's ice hockey awards. Adam Tretowicz (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) was named the PrestoSports Men's Ice Hockey Player of the Week, Jimmy Poreda (Tonawanda, N.Y.) the PrestoSports Men's Ice Hockey Goaltender of the Week and Christian Dahl (St. Peters, MO) the PrestoSports Rookie of the Week.
Freshman forward Tretowicz tallied two goals (one power-play goal), one assist, three points and a +2 rating to help Plattsburgh men's ice hockey sweep Morrisville and earn the No. 5 seed in the upcoming SUNYAC Tournament. Tretowicz started the weekend with two goals, two points, a +1 rating and a .667 goals per shot on goal percentage. He scored the Cardinals' fourth and sixth goals of the game at 9:14 of the second period and 16:44 of the the second period, respectively. His second goal was a power-play goal. He then tallied one assist, one point and a +1 rating in the 5-1 win on Saturday. Tretowicz assist came on Mitchell Hale's goal that erased a 1-0 deficit and tied the game at 1-1 at 5:24 of the second period.
Junior goaltender Poreda played to a 2-0-0 record with 46 saves, a .939 save percentage and a 1.50 goals against average to help Plattsburgh men's ice hockey sweep Morriville and earn the No. 5 seed after regular season play. He began the weekend by making 26 saves with a .929 save percentage in Plattsburgh State's 8-2 win on Friday night. He then backed that performance up with 20 saves, including nine in the third period, with a .952 save percentage in the Cardinals' 5-1 win on Saturday.
Freshman defenseman Dahl tallied one goal, three assists, four points, 11 shots on goal and a +4 rating as Plattsburgh sweep Morriville and earned the No. 5 seed going into playoffs. Dahl began the weekend by tallying three assists, a game-high three points, eight shots on goal and a +3 rating in the Cardinal's 8-2 win on Friday night at the Ronald B. Stafford Ice Arena. He then backed that performance up by tallying his third goal of the season,10th point of the season, three shots on goal and a +1 rating in Plattsburgh's 5-1 win over the Mustangs on Saturday night.
