
Keenen, MacKay & Kozyrev earn PrestoSports Men's Ice Hockey Weekly honors
CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has selected Geneseo's Conlan Keenan (Rochester, N.Y.) as PrestoSports Men's Ice Hockey Player of the Week, Aaron MacKay (Okotoks, Alta) as PrestoSports Men's Ice Hockey Goaltender of the Week and Buffalo State's Nikita Kozyrev (Tallinn, Estonia) as this week's PrestoSports Rookie of the Week.
Keenan tallied six points as the Knights earned a pair of conference wins over the weekend. On Saturday against Cortland, Keenan dished off three assists as Geneseo defeated the visiting Red Dragons, 7-1. On Sunday at Oswego, Keenan handed out two more assists, including one on the game-winning goal with under two minutes remaining, and added an empty-net tally in the closing seconds to lead the Knights to a 5-3 win over the Lakers. Keenan ranks second on the team with 40 points, including 23 assists.
Mackay led Geneseo to a pair of conference wins over the weekend, helping the Knights defeat Cortland, 7-1, on Saturday and host Oswego, 5-3, on Sunday. Against Cortland, Mackay stopped 18 shots and allowed just one goal as the Knights rolled the Red Dragons. Against the Lakers, Mackay stopped a career-high 29 shots and propelled Geneseo to the season sweep of their conference rival. Now 10-2-1 on the season, Mackay ranks third in the conference with a 2.12 goals against average and fourth in the league with a .911 save percentage.
Kozyrev continued to pile up points with a four-point weekend putting him in second in the nation for points by a freshman with eight goals and 21 assists from 29 points in 21 games. Kozyrev scored the Bengals' lone goal in Friday's 2-1 overtime loss against Potsdam and then tallied three assists in a Saturday's 6-1 win against Plattsburgh.
