CoSIDA Academic All-District At-Large Selections

GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo men's ice hockey senior Conlan Keenan was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District At-Large team, announced on Thursday.

The honor recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Keenan was one of 10 NCAA Division III male student-athletes named All-District At-Large from institutions in the state of New York. The "At-Large" award covers several sports including men's tennis, wrestling, men's swimming & diving, men's gymnastics, men's ice hockey, men's water polo, men's golf, men's lacrosse, men's volleyball and fencing. After being selected All-District, Keenan moves on to the national ballot where he will be considered for Academic All-America status. Only nine Geneseo student-athletes have received Academic All-American distinction, most recently with Sean McAneny '20, Luke Holtzman '19 and Natalie LaCourt '18 earning the honor within the last two years.

Keenan graduated with a 3.51 GPA and a degree in communication with a minor in Arabic. A three-time All-American and two-time SUNYAC Herb Hammond Player of the Year, he received the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence earlier this semester. Keenan has been vital in the organization and implementation of the Annual Matt Hutchinson First Responder Walk and Pancake Breakfast, helping create connections between community youth and first responders as well as raising money for mental health awareness. He has volunteered frequently throughout the Geneseo community, served on multiple campus committees and was a 2020 Hockey Humanitarian Award finalist.

He finished the 2019-20 season with 22 goals and added 28 assists for 50 points, leading the Knights to a 22-3-2 record and a third-straight SUNYAC Championship. He led the Knights with eight power-play goals and five game-winning goals as he climbed to seventh all-time in Geneseo history with 172 career points and third in Knights' history with 86 career goals. He was a four-time All-SUNYAC selection and was named Rochester Press Radio Club College Athlete of the Year.
