Geneseo, N.Y.- SUNY Geneseo is pleased to announce the hiring of Dominic Oliveri '01 as Geneseo's interim men's soccer coach.

Oliveri replaces Mike Mooney, who was recently named Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation after the retirement of Marilyn Moore. A four-time SUNYAC Coach of the Year selection, Mooney posted a record of 262-186-47 in 26 seasons for the Blue Knights, winning SUNYAC titles in 2004 and 2006 and advancing to the NCAA Division III national semifinals in 2004.

Oliveri served as Mooney's assistant for seven seasons from 2004 through 2010, gaining experience in all facets of the Knights' program including contest and practice administration, recruitment of qualified student-athletes, scouting of opponents and budget management.

"It is an honor to be given the chance to coach at my alma mater," Oliveri said. "After being on the staff with Mike Mooney for all those years, I am looking forward to the opportunity to lead this program."

A 2001 graduate of SUNY Geneseo with a bachelor's degree in English and legal studies, Oliveri played four seasons as a striker for Mooney. The Rochester, New York native and Greece Athena High School graduate started 67 of the 74 games played for the Knights, scoring 19 goals, including eight game-winners, with 13 assists for 51 points in aiding Geneseo to a record of 43-31-7 during the span.

Oliveri holds a USSF C coaching license and served as head coach of the boys 16-18 team for the Rochester Jr. Rhinos from 2001-06. He currently works as the Coordinator for Background Checking Services for the Rochester Business Alliance.
