SUNYAC Announces 2024 Men's Outdoor Track and Field Awards

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The SUNYAC announces the 2024 Men's Outdoor Track & Field Track Athlete of the Year, Field Athlete of the Year, Rookie of the Year, and Coaching Staff of the Year awards as voted on by the conference coaches.

Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year – Lance Jensen, Geneseo
For the second year in a row, Jensen has been voted the SUNYAC Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year. In 2024, he won the 200 and 400-meter races at the SUNYAC championship. Jensen won the 400-meter hurdles at the AARTFC championship. He was seeded fourth with the second best prelim time in the 400-meter hurdles final at the NCAA Division III championship.

Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year - Amarian Hughes, Cortland
Hughes had an All-American performance with a sixth-place finish in the triple jump at the NCAA Division III championship. He earned All-Region honors in both the triple jump and the long jump. Hughes was also the SUNYAC champion in both events.

Rookie of the Year - Xzavier Goodman, Buffalo State
Goodman was the SUNYAC champion in the shot put in his first season with the Bengals. He also finished eighth in the hammer throw and 10th in the discus at the conference championship meet. Goodman broke Buffalo State's school record in the shot put and hammer throw. He qualified for the Regional championships in all three throwing events; shot put, hammer throw and discus. 

Men's Outdoor Track & Field Coaching Staff of the Year - Geneseo
The Geneseo men's track and field coaching staff is led by head coach Chris Popovici, and he is assisted by Dan Moore, Kyle Rollins, Ashton Fischer, Christian Johnson, Kieran Sheridan, Dan Reynolds and Gwen Shepardson. In 2024, the Knights won their sixth-straight and 11th overall SUNYAC men's outdoor track and field team title. Geneseo had six individual champions at the conference meet this season.
