SUNYAC to be represented by 47 athletes at 2017 NCAA DIII Outdoor Track and Field Championships

CORTLAND, NY - On Saturday, the NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Track and Field Committee announced the participants for the 2017 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Among those who qualified, a combined 47 State University of New York Athletic Conferece (SUNYAC) athletes will be attending the championships held May 25-27 at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio. 

For each men's individual event contested, including the decathlon, the top 20 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition.  For each women's individual event contested, including the heptathlon, the top 22 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition.  For each relay event contested, the top 16 declared relay teams, one per institution, were accepted into the competition. 

SUNYAC Men

Brockport's Josh Steinman and Whitman Oehler-Marx have each qualified for the men's pole vault, with heights of 4.91m (Seeded 14th) and 4.86m (18th). Marquise Riddick has qualified for the long jump with a qualifying distance of 7.30m (18th). Jon Rogers will represent the Golden Eagles in the shot put, after qualifying with a distance of 17.28m (4th). 

Buffalo State's 4x400 meter relay team composed of Robert Liebel, Phil Giuga, Cody Sikora, and Mohamed Kouyate have qualified with a time of 3:14.17 (10th). Benjamin Ezike will represent the Bengals in the men's triple jump, qualifying with a distance of 14.90 (7th).

Cortland will send eight total athletes to this year's championships. Storm Malone will compete in the Men's 110 Meter Hurdle for the Red Dragons, qualifying with a time of 14.24 (4th). Mitch Ryan has qualified for the Men's 3000 M Steeplechase with a time of 9:02.30 (2nd). Nick Vachon will be compete in the High Jump (2.10m; 3rd), Devlen Williams will compete in the Long Jump (7.44m; 9th), Dawan Jones will compete in the Triple Jump (14.81m; 9th), and Mitch Couch will throw in the Men's Hammer (57.98m; 6th). Both Jack Flood (7021 points) and Connor Christopherson (6831 points) claim the top two qualifying spots in the Men's Decathlon.

Fredonia's Kyle Collins will compete in the men's 5,000 meter, after qualifying 17th with a time of 14:25.03.

Geneseo's Issac Garcia-Cassani landed the top qualifying time in the men's 1,500 meter with a time of 3:42.55. Joining Garcia-Cassani will be Alex Kramer, who will compete in the men's 5,000 meter after qualifying with a time of 14:27.65 (20th).

SUNYAC WOMEN

Brockport's Molly Scarpello, Cynthia John-Ogam, Rachel Francis, and Taryn Prutsman will compete in the 4x100 relay, after qualifying with a time of 47.16 (10th). Lisa Huynh will compete in the long jump, qualifying with a distance of 5.74m (19th). Victoire Kothor will compete in two events for the Golden Eagles, after claiming the top spot in the shot put, with a heave of 15.11m and qualifying for the hammer throw (51.95m; 21st). Audrey Miller will compete in the women's javelin (41.52; 20th).

Buffalo State's Satin Holmes, Dayonna Holmes, Catarra Burroughs, and Keanna McKnight will race in the 4x100 relay, with a qualifying time of 47.11 (7th).

Cortland's Dana Kupiec has qualified in the 400 meter hurdles (1:01.71; 9th) and Midge Moore will run in the 100 meter (12.08; 21st).

Fredonia's Brittany Feldman has qualified 10th (55.67) in the 400 meter.

Geneseo will have a combined 10 athletes competing at this year's championships. Mackenzie Ross will compete in the 800 meter (2:10.10; 3rd). Marissa Cossaro (16:55.66; 9th), Elise Ramirez (17:04.42; 19th), and Sara Rosenzweig (17:06.57; 19th) will each compete in the women's 5,000 meter. Lauren Bamford  will compete in the 400 meter with a time of 1:01.65 (8th). Rosenzweig will also compete in 3,000 metet steeplechase (10:42.97; 4th). The Knights' 4x100 meter relay team consisting of Hannah Madden, Camille Wutz, Alexa Wandy, and Lauren Bamford qualified with a time of 47.32 (12th). In the 4x400 meter relay, the Knight will be represented by Ross, Bamford, Wandy, and Erin MacDougall. Wutz and Wandy also locked up the top two spots in the long jump, with distances of 6.13m and 6.09m. Wandy will also represent the Knights in the women's triple jump, with a top qualifying distance of 12.79m. Shayna Held will compete in the heptathlon (4586 points; 7th).

Oneonta's Kayla Clohessy will also compete in the long jump, after qualifying with a distance of 5.87m (8th). Meghan Serdock will compete in the hammer throw (57.28m; 3rd).

Plattsburgh's Stephanie Boucher will compete in the 800 meter, qualifying with a time of 2:1037 (6th).
