Cardinals Head to Maine to Play Roger Williams in First Round of NCAA Tournament

BRUNSWICK, Maine – For the first time in program history, the Plattsburgh State women's basketball team will be taking part in the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament.

After claiming both the SUNYAC regular season championship, the Cardinals hosted the SUNYAC Women's Basketball Championship Tournament for the first time ever and as the No. 1 overall seed bested No. 3 seed SUNY Geneseo in the finals, 57-52, to earn an automatic berth to the national tournament.

Plattsburgh State (22-5) will take on Roger Williams University (22-6) in a first round game of the 2013-14 NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament on Friday evening at 5 p.m. at host institution Bowdoin College. The winner will move on to face the winner of the second first-round game between Castleton State (25-3) and Bowdoin (21-5) on Saturday at 7 p.m.

Fans that plan to make the trip to Brunswick, Maine, to watch the Cardinals may purchase tickets at the door one hour prior to the game. Ticket prices are $6 for general admission and $3 for students and senior citizens. Children under two years of age will be admitted free of charge.
