Brockport's Maguire, Cortland's Hutchinson Earn SUNYAC Women's Lacrosse Weekly Honors

Brockport junior Kaila Maguire (Potsdam/Potsdam) and Cortland junior Shauna Hutchinson (Islip Terrace/East Islip) were named the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Women's Lacrosse Player and Goalie of the Week, respectively.

Maguire scored seven goals on the week, including the final three goals in Brockport's SUNYAC tournament-berth clinching 15-14 win over Oneonta. With 13 seconds remaining, Maguire won the draw control and scored the game-winner with two seconds left.

Hutchinson helped guide the second-ranked Red Dragons (15-1, 8-0 SUNYAC) to a pair of wins and the SUNYAC regular-season title last week. In an 18-11 win at Oneonta on Tuesday, she stopped nine shots in 55:12. In a 12-7 victory at Geneseo on Saturday, Hutchinson made five saves. For the season, she has a 15-1 record with a 7.28 GAA and a .471 save percentage.

Brockport will enter the tournament as the No. 4 seed and will face the top seeded Cortland Red Dragons at Cortland on Friday, May 4. In the regular season meeting between the two teams, the Golden Eagles fell 17-11 on April 3. The other semifinal matchup will see the second seed Fredonia Blue Devils and third seeded Buffalo State.
