SUNYAC announces men's ice hockey athlete of the week recipients

CORTLAND, N.Y. – The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has selected the recipients for the Ice Hockey Athlete, Goalie and Rookie of the Week honors.

This weeks Men's Ice Hockey Athlete of the Week has been awarded to Zac Sikich, Brockport's senior forward from Oak Park, C.A. In the Golden Eagles two conference games this weekend, he led his team on the offensive end tallying three goals including a power play goal and game-winner in their 4-1 win over the Fredonia Blue Devils.

Brockport's Matt Schneider put on the top goaltending performance of the week. The sophomore from Manlius, N.Y., posted a .974 save percentage while recording 38 saves in the Golden Eagles 4-1 win over conference foe, Fredonia.

Plattsburgh freshman, Rich McCartney, from Hershey, P.A., was selected as the SUNYAC Men's Ice Hockey Rookie of the Week for his performance this week. The Cardinals rookie recorded his first career points in grand fashion, on November 3, the first of their two games against Morrisville. McCartney posted a hat trick and an assist in his breakout game and then added another assist in their second game versus the Mustangs, leaving him with five points on the weekend.
