SUNYAC selects Ice Hockey Athlete, Goalie and Rookie of the Week recipients

CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has selected its Athlete, Rookie, and Goalie of the Week for men's ice hockey. This week's Athlete of the Week is sophomore Andrew Romano (Drexel Hill, Pa) from Geneseo, Goalie of the Week is the senior Ian Sylves (Sloan, NY ) from Buffalo State, and Rookie of the Week goes to Carson Kelley (Portola Valey, Calif ) from Geneseo.

This is Romano second athlete of the week award this year.  He was key in a 2 win week for the Knights, totaling a goal and two assists in Friday's 6-0 shutout at Lebanon Valley before notching two goals in Saturday's 7-3 win at Stevenson. He enters the week tied for first nationally with 19 assists. 

This makes Sylves second goalie of the week award this year. He made 25 stops for his fourth shutout of the season in a 4-0 home win over Elmira on Friday. Sylves set a school record for shutouts in a season on Friday night. He also turned aside 37 of 40 shots in a 3-2 loss at the Soaring Eagles on Saturday.  

Kelley notched an assist in Friday's 6-0 win at Lebanon Valley and added a goal and an assist to Saturday's 7-3 victory at Stevenson helping the Knights to two wins over the weekend.
