SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Brockport's Nicholas Pastore and Cortland's Will McCarthy have earned the SUNYAC Baseball Athlete and Pitcher of the week honors respectively.
In a 4-game week, Pastore had an incredibly productive showing for Brockport who went 4-0 on the week. He finished 10-for-17 at the plate with 13 RBIs, 7 runs scored, and 2 home runs. Against Sage he was 3-for-5 with six RBIs, including a grand slam in the win. Pastore then hit another grand slam in a 2-for-4 outing against Fredonia to register 4 RBIs. In the final game of the series against Fredonia he went 3-for-4 at the plate as he connected for his 200th career hit at Brockport. The Golden Eagles are now on a 5-game win streak, improving to 19-9 overall and 10-2 in the SUNYAC.
McCarthy tossed a shutout in Cortland's 5-0 win over visiting Oneonta to complete a three-game weekend sweep. He scattered eight hits, allowing one each from the second through the ninth innings, and finished with six strikeouts and no walks to improve to 5-0 on the season.
