Dwyer and Lynch Take SUNYAC Baseball Weekly Honors

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The SUNYAC selects Oneonta's Joey Dwyer and Cortland's Tommy Lynch as this week's Baseball Athlete and Pitcher of the Week respectively.

Sophomore Dwyer led the Oneonta baseball team in the three-game sweep against SUNY Canton on Saturday and Sunday. He finished batting 5-for-7 (.714) with seven runs, five RBI, eight stolen bases, two walks, and one home run. He was also perfect at fielding at second base with five put outs and five assists. In the opening win, Dwyer stole four bases with three runs and one RBI. He then was 2-for-2 with hist first-career home in the win on Sunday. He added two runs, three RBI, and a stolen base. Dwyer was 3-for-3 in the second game of the doubleheader. He had two runs, one RBI, and three stolen bases in the third win of the week.

Lynch earned a win in relief in Cortland's 10-4 victory over visiting Elmira Sunday. He entered the game in the top of sixth with no outs and two runners on and Elmira leading, 3-1. He retired all six batters he faced over the next two innings, three by strikeout, and picked up the win when Cortland scored eight times in the bottom of the sixth.
