New Paltz, NY — The State University of New York New Paltz was one of 470 college programs recognized as a 2023-24 American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Team Academic Excellence Award recipient.
 
In order to be named teams must sustain a GPA of 3.0 or higher through the 2023-24 academic year. The Hawks excelled in the classroom with 25 student-athletes earning a 3.0 or better last semester, while 18 earned sustained a cumulative GPA of more than a 3.5.
 
In a historic season on the field, which saw a myriad of awards following the program's first ever SUNYAC Championship and NCAA Tournament run, Tommy Kreider was named as the SUNYAC Scholar Athlete and SUNY Scholar Athlete of the Year. Kreider became the team's first All-American selection and enjoyed a stellar season academically as well, earning a spot on the SUNYAC Commissioner's List, Hawks Academic Honor Roll and was enshrined into the Chi Alpha Sigma National Honor Society.
 
As a team, SUNY New Paltz baseball tallied 21 on the SUNYAC Commissioner's List for the 2023-24 academic year as well with 19 earning a spot on the Hawks Academic Honor Roll with a 3.4 or better this past semester.
