Cortland Earns Six Baseball All-Region Honors; Misla Regional Pitcher of the Year

Six members of the SUNY Cortland baseball team have earned All-Region 3 honors from the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) or the website D3baseball.com for the 2024 season. Six Red Dragons made the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Team and two were selected to the D3baseball.com team. Junior Luis Misla (Tampa, FL/Riverview) was chosen as both the ABCA and D3baseball.com Region 3 Pitcher of the Year.

Misla started 14 games and posted an 8-2 record with a 2.34 ERA. In 77 innings pitched he allowed 50 hits and 27 walks and struck out a school single-season record 114 batters. Opponents had a .183 batting average against him.
 
Bruno is an all-region selection for the third straight year; he was an ABCA first-team honoree in 2023 and a third-team selection in 2022. He started all 46 games this spring and batted .403 with eight homers, 15 doubles, eight triples, 62 RBI, 52 runs, 15 walks, 10 hit by pitches and 11 steals. He finished the season with a .656 slugging percentage, and in the outfield committed only one error and had four assists.
 
Bonacci is an all-region choice for the second straight year; he earned third-team honors from both the ABCA and D3baseball.com in 2023. A starter in all 46 games, Bonacci batted .339 with two homers, nine doubles, five triples, 27 RBI, 51 runs, seven steals, 23 walks and eight hit by pitches. He also recorded five outfield assists.
 
Lynch appeared in 16 games out of the bullpen and went 4-0 with one save and a 3.71 ERA. In 26 and two thirds innings he allowed 30 hits and just six walks with 26 strikeouts.
 
Mackenzie played in 44 games with 42 starts. He hit .364 with six homers, seven doubles, two triples, 38 RBI, 26 runs and 24 walks. He registered a .552 slugging percentage.
 
Smith played in 45 games, 32 as a starter, and hit .392 with three homers, seven doubles, a triple, 26 RBI and 23 runs. He led the Red Dragons with 33 walks and a .524 on-base percentage.
 
Cortland finished the season with a 31-14 1 record, including a 16-2 mark to win the SUNYAC regular-season title. The Red Dragons extended their Division III record to 31 straight NCAA tournament appearances and finished 1-2 at a regional in Cortland.
