Plattsburgh's Julia Golino Named CSC Academic District for Softball

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. 
– Graduate student Julia Golino (Mount Sinai, N.Y./Mount Sinai) of the Plattsburgh State softball team was named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Softball team that was released Tuesday. Golino is the first Academic All-District honoree for softball since Jennifer Groat in 2019.

To be eligible for this ballot, student-athletes must not only excel on the court but also in the classroom, carrying at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA while also being at least a sophomore academically and athletically.

The graduate student finished her time at Plattsburgh with a 3.97 GPA and had a strong ending to her career in her fourth full season. As a dual player, she started in 34 games, putting up a .319 batting average and a 5.36 ERA. At the plate she had 37 hits, driving in 26 runs, doubling nine times, and homering once. On the mound, she tossed 61.1 innings and struck out 40 batters while finishing with four complete games in 12 games started. For her career, she finished with 129 hits, surpassing the century mark in her final season as a Cardinal.

The Cardinals missed out on postseason action in 2024, finishing their season at 11-25 (3-15 SUNYAC).
