2024 SUNYAC Men's Wrestling Awards Announced

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The SUNYAC is excited to announce the 2024 Men's Wrestler of the Year, Rookie of the Year and Coaching Staff of the Year. These awards are nominated and voted on by the conference coaches.

Men's Wrestler of the Year – Charlie Grygas, Oswego
Grygas was fifth at the 2024 NCAA Division III championships at 174 lbs. to earn his third All-American honors. This season he was the SUNYAC champion, finished first at the NYS Open championship and was the runner-up at the Mideast Regional. Grygas went 38-5 in his senior season and broke the Oswego all-time career wins record with an overall career record of 128-19.

Men's Wrestling Rookie of the Year - Gabe Goss, Oswego
In his first season with the Lakers, Goss finished with a 28-11 overall record. He was third at the SUNYAC championship and was an NCAA Division III championship qualifier at 141 lbs. Goss was first at the NYS freshman/sophomore championships and second at the Mideast Regional. He was also named to the NWCA Division III Scholar All-American team.

Coaching Staff of the Year – Ithaca College
The Ithaca College men's wrestling team is led by head coach Marty Nichols. Nichols is assisted by Marc Israel, Ricardo Gomez, Eze Chukwuezi and Travis Jones. The staff coached the team to a second place finish at the 2024 SUNYAC championship meet. They went on to take second at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional championship and five wrestlers advanced to nationals. At the NCAA Division III championship, Isais Torres finished seventh at 133 lbs. to claim All-American honors. The Bombers finished the season 14-5 overall.
