SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The SUNYAC has selected New Paltz's Gaby Treble and Cortland's Kristen Spendal as this week's Women's Soccer Offensive and Defensive Athletes of the Week respectively.
Treble set a record for the Hawks in a 9-0 shutout over Buffalo State, becoming the first Hawk to score four goals in a single game to lead the way offensively. Her eight points recorded were also a new program record. She also scored the lone goal for the Hawks in a 3-1 loss to Scranton. She had an efficient shots-on-goal percentage of .818, totaling 17 shots and averaging about six shots per game in the two matches this past week.
Spendal posted a 2-0 record with a 0.57 GAA, 13 saves and a .929 save percentage for Cortland last week. In a 2-1 home victory versus 15th-ranked Misericordia on Wednesday, Spendal made a season-high nine saves, only surrendering a late penalty-kick goal. She then stopped four shots in 68:04 in a 7-0 home win versus Fredonia on Saturday. For the season, Spendal has posted a 5-2-1 record with a 1.03 GAA, a .789 save percentage and one solo shutout.
