SUNYAC honors Baseball, Softball, and Lacrosse athletes of the week

CORTLAND, N.Y.- The SUNYAC announces the winners of Athlete of the Week honors for Baseball, Softball, and Lacrosse.  Eight athletes from four different institutions were honored in the spring award's second week.

 

Baseball Pitcher of the Week- Takoda Sitar, Oneonta

(So, P- Somers, NY)

In his only start last week, Sitar pitched six innings allowing one hit and striking out nine batters in a shutout victory against Cazenovia.
 

Baseball Athlete of the Week- Justin Teague, Cortland St. 

(Jr, C - North Syracuse, N.Y.)

Teague batted .545 (6-for-11) with a homer, triple, double, two walks, six RBI and seven runs scored in three appearances for the Red Dragons. He went 3-for-3 with a homer, triple, walk, three RBI and three runs in a win over Case Western Reserve Saturday, a day after he doubled, drove in two runs and scored three times in a win at Arcadia. Teague closed the week with a 2-for-5 performance in a win at Ferrum. He leads the Red Dragons this spring with a .500 batting average (14-for-28) in eight starts.
 

Softball Pitcher of the Week- Amanda Graziano, Oneonta St. 

(Sr, P - Riverhead, NY)

Posted a 3-0 record last week on the bump for the Red Dragons with two complete-game shutouts. In 20.2 innings pitched last week, she allowed only 13 hits while striking out 12 batters and had an earned run average of 0.68.

 

Softball Athlete of the Week- Dana Del Genio, Oneonta St.

(So, CF - New Hartford, NY)

Led Oneonta's offense in opening week of season in Florida with her .423 batting average. Del Genio smacked a pair of home runs and drove in 10 runs as the Red Dragons completed its trip 10-2 overall. In the eight games she played in this week she had four multi-hit games.
 

Men's Lacrosse Offensive Athlete of the Week- Thomas McNaney, Cortland

(Jr, Attack - Marcellus, NY)

McNaney helped Cortland (3-0) to a pair of home non-conference wins last week, scoring 11 points on six goals and five assists. In a 15-7 victory versus Nazareth on Monday, McNaney scored a game-high four goals. He followed up with a game-high seven points on two goals and five assists and added four ground balls in a 16-8 win versus Western New England on Friday. For the season, McNaney leads the Red Dragons in scoring with 18 points on 11 goals and seven assists.
 

Men's Lacrosse Goalie of the Week- Joe Scalise, Cortland

(Jr, G - Fairport, NY, 55)

Scalise earned a pair of wins last week as the Red Dragons (3-0) picked up two non-conference home wins last. He recorded a 6.00 GAA with 23 saves and a .676 save percentage. In a 15-7 victory versus Nazareth on Monday, Scalise stopped 17 shots in 57:10, one shy of his career high. He then made six saves and allowed five goals in 52:47 in a 16-8 win versus Western New England on Friday. For the season, he has a 3-0 record with a 6.54 GAA, 26 saves and a .591 save percentage.
 

Women's Lacrosse Offensive Athlete of the Week- Teresa Shattuck, Oswego

(So, Attack- Syracuse, NY)

Shattuck had a monster week for the Lakers as the team went 1-1 to open the season. In a 10-6 loss to Clarkson University on Tuesday, the sophomore had five points on a goal and four assists. She also collected three ground balls and caused two Golden Knight turnovers. Shattuck followed that by setting the program single-game record for assists in a game with nine in a 17-2 win over The Sage Colleges on Thursday. The nine assists broke her sister, Erannan Shattuck's previous record of eight set against Houghton College in 2016. T. Shattuck also had three goals for 12 points - which is just shy of the college's most in a single game - while collecting six draw controls, two grounds balls and causing one turnover. 

 

Women's Lacrosse Goalie of the Week- Katie Longamore, SUNY Potsdam

(So, G - Dexter, N.Y)

Longamore recorded victories in both of her two career starts this weeks. She posted a 5.00 goals-against-average and a .524 save percentage in wins over Sage on Wednesday and at St. Joe's of Long Island on Sunday.
