New Paltz Athletics, Wellness & Recreation Adds Kaite Wilson to Athletic Communications Staff

New Paltz Sports Information Department

New Paltz, NY — The State University of New York New Paltz announced the hiring of Kaite Wilson as the newest Assistant to the Director of Athletic Communications, Marketing & Social Media Thursday.

Wilson begins her career at SUNY New Paltz after a graduate assistantship in the Sports Information Office at SUNY Brockport where she oversaw the social media accounts, created content such as media days, graphics, photos and fun videos for SUNY Brockport Athletics social feeds in 2023.

"I am most looking forward to helping create content that highlights the accomplishments of the individual athletes and the championship teams on campus," Wilson said. "Connecting with the athletes and helping ideas become a reality is such a fun part of the job and I cannot wait to start creating."

SUNY New Paltz was awarded the NCAA's Ethnic Minorities and Women's Internship Grant. The Ethnic Minorities and Women's Internship Grant funds minority and gender representation in full-time, entry-level athletics administrative positions for two academic years. "I am really excited to be given the opportunity to be a part of the Division III Ethnic Minority and Women's Internship grant. I believe everyone deserves a place in and to be represented in the world of sports. I am excited to represent young professional women in the world of sports," Wilson said.

A Washingtonville, NY native, Wilson swam collegiately at SUNY Brockport and was offered a position as a Graduate Assistant to the Sports Information Office. "My experiences at Brockport have really prepared me for this new position here at New Paltz.  After swimming for Brockport, I was offered a Graduate Assistantship. I did the statistics and story writing as well as multiple other public relations aspects for the job…I am really proud of the social media growth our team saw during my time managing the accounts at Brockport and cannot wait to brainstorm and implement more creative ideas with the new team here at New Paltz."

"I anticipate meeting a great deal of people through my new role and to be able to collaborate with coaches, athletes and staff as well the other candidates selected to represent the grant this year," she said. "Being able to bounce ideas off peers is a great way to continue to amplify our athletes' accomplishments in unique and eye-catching ways."

Wilson earned her bachelor's degree in journalism and broadcasting, with a concentration in media production and minor in graphic design. Also, she received her master's degree in athletic administration from SUNY Brockport.
