Oneonta Sports Information Department
ONEONTA, N.Y. - Director of Athletics Ryan Hooper is pleased to announce the hiring of Don LaSala as SUNY Oneonta's Assistant Athletic Director for facilities and gameday operations. LaSala most recently served as the Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities and head coach of men's lacrosse at neighboring Hartwick College.
"It gives me great pleasure to name Don as our new Assistant Athletic Director," said Hooper. "Don comes to us with a great deal of experience within athletic administration as well as his previous work as a head lacrosse coach. His background in both areas will enable him to thrive in this position. Don is a diligent worker with a consistent focus on the student-athlete experience. He is going to be a tremendous asset to our staff, and I am very excited to have him join the Red Dragon family."
LaSala joined Hartwick as the men's lacrosse coach in 2014 and became the Hawks' assistant athletic director for facilities in 2019. In that role, he scheduled practice and game spaces for all athletic programs and was responsible for the maintenance and repair of the athletic facilities. LaSala served as the primary contact for Hartwick's home events and was responsible for student workers, facility calendars, the equipment rooms, and concession stand management.
Additionally, LaSala coordinated facility rentals for internal and external groups, including convocation, commencement, AAU Basketball Tournaments, the Harlem Globetrotters, and various Nike Sports Camps.
LaSala led the Hartwick men's lacrosse team for ten seasons, compiling 60 wins and achieving Empire 8 Tournament appearances in seven of those seasons. LaSala organized all the team's fundraising opportunities for spring training and equipment.
Before joining Hartwick, LaSala served as the head men's lacrosse coach and adjunct lecturer at Adrian College from 2011 to 2014. He was the assistant to the associate athletic director at Clarkson University from 2010 to 2011 and had coaching stints at Washington & Jefferson College, SUNY Brockport, and SUNY Canton.
LaSala earned an associate's degree in liberal arts science from Canton, a bachelor's degree in business management from Brockport, and a master's degree in educational leadership from St. Lawrence University.
