The Eastern College Athletic Conference has selected SUNY Oneonta junior, Chris Smith, as the Pitcher of the Week. His selection was based on games played between Monday, Mar. 28 through Sunday, Apr. 3.

In two starts last week, Smith threw 14-1/3 scoreless innings in recording two wins for the Red Dragons, who have won seven straight and are in first place in the SUNYAC with a 6-0 record.

In the second game of a conference doubleheader last Wednesday versus Fredonia, Smith went 8-1/3 innings allowing two hits and recording 10 strikeouts in the 2-0 win. Four days later, he pitched six innings of two-hit ball with six strikeouts as Oneonta defeated Oswego 5-2 to complete a three-game sweep of the Lakers.

Smith is currently 2-1 this spring for the Red Dragons, who are 11-6 overall. He has a 2.22 ERA with 24 strikeouts in 24 innings pitched while holding opponents to a .163 batting average.
