Cauchon and Chismar Collect ECAC Honors

 

Kris Cauchon of the Plattsburgh State and Chris Chismar of New Paltz were named the Division III Baseball Upstate ECAC Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for the week ending April 24.

A junior from Colchester, Vt., Cauchon batted .691 (13-for-21) in six games for the Cardinals last week, as the team went 5-1. The shortstop drove in a team-high nine runs on the week, bumping his previous total of three RBIs to 12 by the end of the week as the Cardinals improved to 8-8 in the SUNYAC.

In a three-game sweep of Oswego Friday, Cauchon went 8-for-11 with seven RBIs and four runs scored, including going 4-for-5 in game three. He also went 3-for-4 in a single game against Oneonta Thursday. The award is the first of Cauchon’s career.
Chismar (Lindenhurst, NY) tossed his third complete game and third shutout (second solo) of the season during a 1-0 win over SUNY Fredonia on Friday afternoon in SUNYAC action. Chismar struck out 12 batters in seven innings to raise his season total to 67. On the contest, he held the Blue Devil lineup to a .083 batting average, allowing just two hits and walking four.
