Nick Franco to Represent Brockport at NCAA DIII Championships
Brockport, NY – Nick Franco is set to represent Brockport at the NCAA Division III Championships in Providence, R.I. at the Amica Mutual Pavilion on Friday, March 14th and Saturday, March 15th.
The prelims and consolation first round are set to start at 10am on Friday. Championship quarterfinals and consolation second round and third rounds will take off at 5pm Friday as well.

Season Recap – Franco had an impressive graduate season with the Golden Eagles taking home a spectacular series of wins throughout.
Starting off at the Messiah invitational, Franco competed against Ursinus, Liberty, Washington and Lee and Wheaton where he placed 6th at 285 and scored 11 team points.
In a dual meet at Oswego state, he contributed to a 30-17 win and won his matchup with a fall just 1:44 into the match.
Taking on the NYS collegiate championships, Franco took second scoring 15 points for Brockport with a win by fall in the quarterfinals, and a win by major decision in the semifinals which brought him to the first-place match.
The Golden Eagles attended a tri-meet at Alfred, taking on the Pioneers and Pitt Bradford. Here, Franco helped contribute to both wins after he picked up 6 points from a win by fall just 0:52 into the round. Up against Pitt-Bradford he earned himself a decision win of 8-1.
Brockport went on to host a tri-meet at home against Utica and NCCC. The Green and Gold shut out the Pioneers 55-0 and Franco dominated in his matchup with a win by fall in a quick 28 seconds.
Brockport had a strong 50-4 win against NCCC where Franco wrapped up the day with another quick pin taking the win with a fall in 1:24. Following this meet, he earned his first E8 Wrestler of the Week honor.
The team finished up at SUNYAC championships, clinching a third-place finish. Franco contributed a strong 18 points and a second-place finish, winning by fall in the champ round 1 and tech fall in the quarter and semifinals.
At a dual meet in Elmira Franco took care of business with a win by fall just 57 seconds into his matchup.
Franco earned his second E8 Wrestler of the Week after the John Summa Invite in Ohio. He brought the heat with a first-place finish scoring 27 points. In the champ rounds 1 and 2, he won by fall just 28 seconds in and at 1:35. He took two more wins in the quarterfinals and semifinals, moving on to the first-place match where he won by a 10-4 decision.
During senior night against St. John Fisher, Brockport took the close, one-point loss, but Franco won by a major decision of 9-1.
During regionals day 1, Franco won his first matchup of the day by a fall in just 47 seconds and in the quarterfinals, he earned another win by major decision of 13-5. The next day, he qualified for nationals after a third-place finish, after a huge 8-2 decision win all while snagging his third E8 Wrestler of the Week honor.
Franco is now set to return to the national stage for his second consecutive season in the 285 division for the Golden Eagles.
Centrone to Represent Cortland at NCAA Wrestling Championships March 14-15
CORTLAND, NY - Junior Angelo Centrone (Mahopac) will be competing for SUNY Cortland at the 2025 NCAA Division III Championships March 14-15 at the Amica Mutual Pavilion in Providence, R.I. Fans can follow the action via live video and live stats.
Centrone is the second seed at 149 pounds and enters nationals with a 27-0 record this season, including five pins, 18 technical falls and one major decision. He has won 46 straight matches dating back to last season (19-0 in 2023-24 before season-ending injury). Centrone earned his spot at nationals after winning the 149-pound title and being named Most Outstanding Wrestler at the NCAA Division III Region 2 qualifying meet March 1-2.
Centrone will receive a bye in the opening round and will face either Michael Conklin of TCNJ or Evan Lindner of Washington & Lee in the second round. The tournament begins at 10 a.m. each day.
Five Ithaca Wrestlers to Compete at Men's Wrestling NCAA Championships
ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's wrestling team will be sending five wrestlers to the 2025 NCAA Division III Championships that are set to begin March 14-15 at the Amica Mutual Pavilion in Providence, R.I. Fans will be able to follow along via live video and stats.
The Bombers will look to send home an All-American for the second-straight season as Isaias Torres returns and he is joined by teammates Tomah Gummow, Konrad Parker, Jackson Gray and Xavier Pommells. Action is slated to begin on Friday at 12 p.m. and will resume at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
125 lbs. Tomah Gummow- A first year who has made an immediate impact since stepping foot on the South Hill earned his NCAA Championship qualifying bid via his third place at the NCAA Region II qualifier. Gummow enters Friday with a collegiate record of 33-11 and is unseeded and will take on Ausburg's Wyatt Kaczrowski who has a record of 21-7. The winner of the opening matchup will take on No. 7 seeded Gavin Bradley from Castleton.
133 lbs. Isaias Torres- The lone returning All-American should surely contend for his second-straight honor. With a 25-7 record this season and a second-place finish two weekends ago he will matchup against the No. 3 seeded Garrett Trotten from TCNJ. They squared off earlier in the season where Trotten earned a tight 8-2 decision.
165 lbs. Konrad Parker- Also unseeded Konrad Parker punched his ticket by finishing second in his weight class during the NCAA Regional and is competing at nationals for the first time in his career. This season he has a record of 29-4 and will have a first round matchup against the No. 7 seeded Brayden Peet from Wisconsin-Whitewater. Peet is also making his first NCAA Championship appearance and has a 2025 record of 21-4 and was the NCAA Region V champion at 165 lbs.
174 lbs. Jackson Gray- A returning NCAA qualifier, Jackson Gray (32-4) will look to put it all together this weekend. Gray won his regional qualifying bracket and has won 11-straight matches. He has an opening round bout against the winner of No. 2 seeded Zeb Grinda and Eddie Simes from Wisconsin-La Crosse. All three of these wrestlers will look for their first career All-American honors as well.
184 lbs. Xavier Pommells – The junior was also a second-place finisher at the Region II qualifier but will have a tough opening bout against the No. 2 seeded Kasey Ross from Wartburg. Ross has a record of 27-1 on the season, including eight technical falls and five falls and Pommells has produced a record of 27-10 going into the championship weekend.
Oneonta's LiCastri and Ryan to Compete at NCAA Championships
ONEONTA, N.Y. -- Two Red Dragons from the No. 8 ranked Oneonta wrestling team are set to compete in the NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships at the Amica Mutual Pavilion in Providence, Rhode Island on Friday, March 14, and Saturday, March 15. Seniors Carson LiCastri (Easton, CT/Joel Barlow High School) and Jack Ryan (Trumbull, CT/) will represent the team after both qualified at the Region 2 Championships at Lycoming College on March 1 and 2.
Ryan won the 184 class at the qualifier to advance to the NCAA tournament for the third time in his career. He went 4-0 at the tournament that included a fall, tech fall, and a major to get to the final, then defeated Ithaca's Xavier Pommells in a 6-3 decision.
LiCastri earned third place at 197 pounds at regionals to qualify for the wrestling championships for the first time in his career. He dropped his opening match in the tournament then won five straight that included four pins and a 4-3 decision in the third-place match against Oswego's Anthony Cascen. LiCastri was awarded the Manuel Gorriaran Most Falls trophy for recording the most falls (4) in the tournament.
Heading into the NCAA championship, LiCastri is tied for second in Division III with 21 falls, only one behind the leader, Wilkes' 285-pound Caleb Burkhart. Ryan is tied for eighth in Division III in points per match, averaging 5.0 points per match. Junior Avery Leonard (Milford, N.Y./Milford Central) still leads Division III with 23 tech falls, two ahead of 125-pounder Joziah Fry from Johnson & Wales (RI).
Entering the national tournament, Ryan is the No. 1 seed of the 184 class. The Trumbull, Connecticut native is currently 30-1 this season with 17 falls, two tech falls and three majors. He is one of two returning All-American's competing at 184 from last year's national tournament, Castleton's Sampson Wilkins is the other who finished fourth in 2024 and is the fourth seed this year.
As a whole, the bracket has eight NCAA qualifiers from 2024, and one from 2023. Ryan's first opponent will be Remington Bauer from Baldwin Wallace. Bauer secured his first NCAA appearance with a second place finish at the Region 4 Championships with a 3-1 record and two majors. The junior earned All-OAC (Ohio Athletic Conference) honors this season and enters the tournament with a 27-8 record.
LiCastri enters the tournament unseeded in the 197 class. The Easton, Connecticut native is 39-5 this season with 21 pins, six tech falls, and four majors. LiCastri's first opponent will be the No. 8 seed, DJ Henry from TCNJ. Henry was the Region 3 winner at 197 with a 4-0 record and two tech falls. A sophomore, this is Henry's first NCAA tournament appearance with an overall record of 26-6 this season. The bracket consists of five returning All-Americans from 2024 and eight NCAA Qualifiers.

Oswego's Rossini Qualifies for NCAA Championships after finishing second at Regionals

Four RIT Wrestlers set to compete at NCAA Championships
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Four RIT wrestlers will compete at the 2025 NCAA Division III Championships at the Amica Mutual Pavillion in Providence, RIT March 14-15.
Senior Michael Glynn III makes his second straight appearance in the NCAA Championships earning All-American honors with an eighth-place finish at last year's championships. He finished third at the NCAA Region 2 Championships, winning his 100th career match. Glynn is 24-2 this season with 14 wins coming by pin. He will face the winner between No. 5 Thomas Monn (McDaniel) and Brett Back (Dubuque).
Junior Josh Harkless makes his third appearance in the NCAA Championships earning All-American honors with an eighth-place finish at the 2023 championships. He won the 285 lb. division at the NCAA Region 2 Championships and is the No. 3 seed heading into the national tournament. Harkless is 27-0 this season, including 21 wins via pinfall. He will face Logan Flynn (Delaware Valley) in his opening match.
Sophomore Jared Lee will compete at the NCAA Championships for the first time. Lee qualified with a third-place finish at the NCAA Region 2 Championships. He is 22-7 this season including five technical fall victories. Lee will face No. 8 Clayton McDonough (Luther) in his opening round bout.
Senior Lee Rubin makes his first appearance in the NCAA Championships this weekend. He qualified with a second-place finish at the NCAA Region 2 Championships. Rubin is 17-11 this season with 11 wins coming via pinfall. He will face No. 4 Mason Barrett (Averett) in his opening match.
