Brockport's Parker Named Regional Assistant of the Year

Assistant coach for The College at Brockport Women’s Soccer team, Fred Parker has been named the North Atlantic Region Assistant Coach of the Year by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). The awards are handed out to the top assistant coaches from each region regardless of division. Parker was the lone Division III assistant coach honored.
The regional recipients are comprise the field of finalists for the National Assistant Coach of the Year awards, which will be announced at the annual NSCAA Awards Banquet, to be held in the Grand Ballroom of the Kansas City Convention Center on Friday, Jan. 13, in conjunction with the 2012 NSCAA Convention.
Parker has been the assistant coach for the Golden Eagle Women’s Soccer team since 1996 and helped the team to an 11-7-1 record and berths in both the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) and Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) postseason tournaments.
“This is just a wonderful and most deserving award for Fred,” said head coach Joan Schockow. “I can't imagine coaching a day without him. He has a passion for soccer that is matched by no other, and a passion for Brockport Women’s Soccer that is only matched by me. We are so lucky to have him.”
In 2002, he was named the AFLAC National Assistant Coach of the Year and was a three-year starter for the Brockport Men’s Soccer team before graduating in 1989. He has coached both boys and girls Olympic Development Program teams and assists with several soccer camps during the Summer months.
