Eight State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) women’s soccer teams have been presented with a Team Ethics Award from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) for the 2011 season.
The award recognizes teams that exhibit fair play, sporting behavior and adherence to the Laws of the Game, as reflected by the number of yellow caution cards or red ejection cards they are shown by referees throughout the season.
A total of 67 women’s teams received either the Gold, Silver or Bronze version of the award. Gold recipients complete the entire season without receiving either a yellow or a red card. All eight SUNYAC teams, Brockport, Fredonia, Geneseo, New Paltz, Oneonta, Oswego, Plattsburgh and Potsdam received a Silver version of the award that is given to teams that accumulate no red cards and a maximum of five yellow cards. The Bronze Award went to teams that received no reds and a maximum of 10 yellows.
