SUNYAC Announces First 2023 Women's Volleyball Weekly Honors

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The SUNYAC selected New Paltz's Cate Digiacomo and Plattsburgh's Payton Zophy as its first Women's Volleyball Offensive and Defensive Athletes of the Week respectively.

DiGiacomo facilitated the Hawks offense to an impressive 2-1 weekend against some top competition at the Scranton Invitational over the weekend. She registered a team-high 97 assists to six different hitters to average more than eight assists per set and totaled 40 assists in a four-set win over hosting Scranton. She added 12 kills to her stat line as well with one ace and 18 digs.

Zophy averaged a SUNYAC-best 5.17 digs per set in a 3-0 opening weekend for Plattsburgh State at the Cardinal Classic. She defended 16 digs in a 3-1 win over Russell Sage on Friday before posting 25 digs in a 3-1 victory over SUNY Poly and 21 digs in a 3-1 triumph over Potsdam on Saturday.
