Cortland's Pilkey and Martens Tabbed SUNYAC Women's Volleyball Athletes of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Cortland teammates Anna Pilkey and Mikenzie Martens have been named the SUNYAC Women's Volleyball Offensive and Defensive Athletes of the Week respectively.

Pilkey was named the MVP at the William Smith Heron Invitational after leading Cortland to a 3-0 record and the tournament title. She finished the weekend with 37 kills (3.1 per set) and 45 digs (3.8 per set) and averaged 3.5 points per set. Pilkey opened the weekend with 11 kills and 20 digs in a five-set win over William Smith. She posted 12 kills and 15 digs in a four-set win over Stevens Institute on Saturday, followed by 14 kills, 10 digs and three aces in a sweep of St. John Fisher. Five of her kills vs. St. John Fisher fought off set points in the second set.

Martens was named to the all-tournament team at the William Smith Heron Invitational after helping Cortland win the team title with a 3-0 record. She averaged 4.6 digs per set in 12 sets over the three matches. Martens totaled 22 digs and four aces in a five-set win over William Smith on Friday, and the following day she posted 15 digs and two aces in a four-set win over Stevens Institute and 18 digs in a sweep of St. John Fisher.
