Cortland and New Paltz Advance to SUNYAC Women's Volleyball Championship Match Saturday

CORTLAND, N.Y. - Top-seed and host Cortland topped No. 4 Brockport, 3-1, Friday in the first SUNYAC women's volleyball semifinal match. No. 2 New Paltz beat No. 3 Geneseo, 3-0, in the second semifinal match Friday night at Cortland's Whitney T. Corey Gymnasium. The Cortland Red Dragons will host the New Paltz Hawks in the the championship match, Saturday at 4 p.m. 

Cortland will play for its third-straight and 22nd overall championship title. New Paltz will look capture the women's volleyball conference crown for the fourth overall and first time since 2018.

Elite 20 

The SUNYAC Elite 20, an award modeled after the NCAA ELITE 90 program, recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the conference championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers.

Before the first semifinal game on Friday, the SUNYAC honored Cortland's Mikenzie Martens for the second year in a row. She is a a junior physical education major with a 4.0 overall GPA.
