Thompson and Dignan Named SUNYAC Women's Volleyball Athletes of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Jordan Thompson from Brockport has been selected as the SUNYAC Women's Volleyball Offensive Athlete of the Week while Geneseo's Cecilia Dignan was named the Defensive Athlete of the Week.

Thompson led the Golden Eagles offensively last weekend, as they went 1-1 in conference play on the road. She averaged 5.25 kills per set (42) and 6.2 points per set (50.5). In a close, 3-2, loss to New Paltz she totaled 19 kills and four aces. She added a pair of block assists for a match-high 24 points. The next day she improved upon that performance in a 3-0 sweep over Oneonta. Thompson racked up a season-high 23 kills to go with three aces and 26.5 total points. Brockport is now 3-1 in the SUNYAC and 7-9 overall this season.

Dignan led the Geneseo defense this past week with an impressive 6.11 digs per set over nine sets played. Dignan and the Knights defeated Oneonta in four sets and the senior libero tallied 22 digs, then the next day she recorded 33 digs in a five-set defeat to New Paltz. Additionally, the Millbrook, NY native received 65 serves over the two matches and only registered one error.
