Cortland second baseman Matt June and Brockport pitcher James Bardenett have been named the SUNYAC Baseball Player and Pitcher of the week, respectively.
BASEBALL PLAYER – Cortland
Matt June (Colonie, NY/Colonie), senior second base
Matt June batted .550 (11-for-20) with two walks and hit safely in all five games as Cortland started the season 2-3. He had one double against #21 Shenandoah, went 4-for-5 in a tough 7-6 loss to seventh-ranked Christopher Newport and picked up a single verse Bridgewater. In the first two games of the eight-game Florida trip June went 2-for-4 with a run scored in a 13-0 win over defending AMCC champion Penn St. Altoona and was 3-for-4 with a walk, two RBI, two runs and a steal in a win over Husson College.
BASEBALL PITCHER – Brockport
James Bardenett (Syracuse, NY/Henniger), junior
James Bardenett did not allow a single run in 13 innings after earning two victories in two starts for the Golden Eagles. In the 7-0 win against Purchase he struck out 10 batters to just two walks and allowed the one hit in six innings. Bardenett allowed three hits over seven innings of work in a 2-1 victory over Rutgers-Camden as he struck out four batters and walked a pair. Opponents are batting .098 against the right hander.
