Wasik and Marshall Stand out on Spring Break to Earn Weekly Honors

 

SOFTBALL PLAYER – Fredonia
Anne Wasik (Fredonia, NY/Fredonia), junior outfielder
Anne Wasik batted .500 (13-for-26) with two walks, nine RBI and nine runs scored over Fredonia’s last eight games. She hit safely in all eight games, including two or more hits four times, and has extended her hit streak to 11 games dating back to the final game of the 2011 season. She finished 3-for-3 with a walk, three runs and four RBI in a win over Mount Ida and was 2-for-4 with a run in the win against Bates. On the season Wasik is batting .484 with a .645 slugging percentage.
 
 
SOFTBALL PITCHER- Plattsburgh
Ashley Marshall (Malone, NY/Franklin Academy), junior
Ashley Marshall tossed six complete games with three relief appearances to finish 6-0 as Plattsburgh wrapped up its spring break in Clermont, Florida. Marshall racked up 88 strikeouts in 49 innings of work allowing four earned runs and six walks for a 0.57 ERA. She threw a no hitter against Lesley University on March 15 and was one walk away from a perfect game. She retired 12 batters in the 3-0 win over Rochester to start the week and then struck out 14 in the 5-2 win to Hood College. Marshall recorded 10 strikeouts in each of the wins against Ithaca, Lesely and Elmherst and posted a season high 16 strikeouts in the 3-1 win over RPI. She also added 10 more strikeouts during the 4.2 innings of relief against Wesleyan University. Behind Marshall’s dominance in the circle, Plattsburgh finished 9-2 on the week.
