ECAC Honors Stoddard and Coneys

Cortland senior outfielder Lorraine Stoddard and Buffalo State freshman Maddie Coneys have been selected as the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Div. III Upstate New York Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week for the week ending April 1.

Stoddard batted .562 (9-for-16) with three homers, 11 RBI and nine runs scored during a 6-0 week for the Red Dragons. She hit a combined three homers and drove in nine runs in a doubleheader sweep at Nazareth Tuesday. Her seven RBI in the first game are the third-most by a Cortland player in the last 25 years.

Through 19 games this spring, Stoddard is batting .407 with four homers and 17 RBI. Cortland, ranked 19th nationally in Division III, is currently 16-4 overall with an eight-game winning streak.

Coneys hurled a complete game on Friday against Plattsburgh, going seven innings and allowed just one earned run in a 4-2 win. Coneys returned to the circle on Saturday against Potsdam and gained her second victory of the week, as she tossed all seven frames. She scattered four hits and permitted one walk while striking out five batters in a 5-2 victory.

Coneys is 5-0 in seven appearances this season with 19 strikeouts and a 2.53 ERA.
