Brockport’s Jean Farrell (Rochester/Penfield) and Plattsburgh’s Dana Mandrey (Medford/Longwood) were named the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Softball Pitcher and  Player of the Week respectively.

Farrell was a perfect 3-0 for the week with a 1.11 ERA and 28 strikeouts compared to just three walks.  She set a new single-game school record with 16 strikeouts in a 1-0 two-hit victory against the University of Rochester.  She then helped the Golden Eagles secure a berth in the SUNYAC playoffs with conference wins over Fredonia and another shutout against Buffalo State on the weekend.

Mandrey hit .600 (6 of 10) during the four games this past week with seven RBIs.  She also had two doubles, and triple and two home runs, collecting at least one hit in each of the four-straight wins over Potsdam and Union.
