Wasik and Fleming Named SUNYAC Athletes of the Week

Fredonia junior Anne Waski and Brockport sophomore Erin Fleming have been named the State SUNYAC Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week.
Wasik earned her second Softball Player of the Week award this spring. She hit .632 (12-of-19) during the Blue Devils' 4-1 week, including three wins in league play. She had four RBIs and four extra-base hits for an .842 slugging percentage. Wasik had a single in the fifth inning of a 9-2 win over Medaille on Tuesday. In the doubleheader at Oneonta she combined 5-for-7 with two doubles and three runs scored. She finished the New Paltz twinbill with six hits.
Fleming posted back-to-back shutouts in a 7-0 victory against Potsdam on Friday and a 2-0 win against Plattsburgh on Saturday. Along with a 9-5 win against RIT on Tuesday, Fleming upped her overall record to 7-1 on the year and has won her last five starts. Fleming's earned run average dropped to 2.98. Against RIT, the sophomore went five innings, allowing three earned runs while walking two batters and striking out four. Fleming gave Brockport a SUNYAC split with Potsdam on Friday. After dropping game one, Fleming tossed her first career complete game shutout against the Bears, allowing only four hits and not issuing a walk. Fleming came back the next day to start game one. Against the Cardinals, Fleming yielded just three hits on the day and allowed just one walk while striking out three batters.
