Kuhn Finishes Season as NCAA Saves Leader: Kohler, Kuhn and Lekki Break Records

Cortland senior Morgan Kuhn concluded the 2012 season as the NCAA Division III leader in saves, totaling 10 on the season, setting a new conference record. She made 37 appearances in the circle with a 10-0 record and 0.78 ERA.

Meaghan Kohler, the SUNYAC Player of the Year, ranked second with 17 homeruns on the year. Her homerun total set a new school record and tied Deanna Hunt’s (Buffalo State) conference record from 1995. Kohler set another school record with 68 RBI, shattering the old conference record of 57 to rank seventh in Division with 1.33 RBI per game.

Buffalo State senior shortstop Kyrstin Lekki also etched her name in the record book with a school and conference record 21 doubles on the season. Her .53 doubles per game ranked her sixth in Division III, while her on base percentage (.556) slotted her 11th.

Plattsburgh’s Ashley Marshall wrapped up her junior season with 275 strikeouts to rank seventh in Division III. Her 10 shutouts ranked ninth and her 25 victories were good for 10th on the leader board.

On the team side of the rankings, the Bengals finished third in double plays per game (.55) and the Cortland Red Dragons combined for a .515 slugging percentage to finish eighth in the division. Plattsburgh ended the year with .85 home runs per game, good for ninth in the category.
