Kohler and Marshall Selected SUNYAC Player and Pitcher of the Week

 

SOFTBALL PLAYER - Cortland
Meaghan Kohler (Franklin, NJ/Warren Hills Regional), sophomore outfielder
Meaghan Kohler hit four homeruns, a double, 17 RBI and scored seven runs in a 6-0 week for the #14 Red Dragons. In a doubleheader sweep at Buffalo State Saturday, Kohler hit a grand slam and drove in five runs in each game. She finished the twinbill a combined 5-for-9 with two homers, a double and 10 RBI. She also hit two home runs, including a two-run shot in the fourth to give Cortland a 2-1 lead, in a 6-1 win Friday at Fredonia.
 
SOFTBALL PITCHER- Plattsburgh
Ashley Marshall (Malone, NY/Franklin Academy), junior
Ashley Marshall went 3-0 on the weekend with a 0.78 ERA to help Plattsburgh go 4-0 against conference opponents. On Friday Marshall pitched her fifth shutout that saw her gather 12 strikeouts and only allow three hits and one walk in a 4-0 win over Oneonta. On Saturday Marshall appeared twice. In the first game she came on in relief during the sixth inning of a 3-3 game against New Paltz. She recorded five outs that all came via strikeout to help the Cardinals get the 4-3 win in 8 innings. She started the second game against New Paltz allowing two runs and three hits in the first inning before settling down to pitch five scoreless innings and allow only two more hits the rest of the way as she picked up her 11th complete game. Marshall finished the week with 22 strikeouts, two walks and two earn runs.
