Masotta, Nease and Caroccio Take SUNYAC Women's Ice Hockey Weekly Awards

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The SUNYAC picks Plattsburgh's Julia Masotta and Lilla Nease as the Women's Ice Hockey Player and Goaltender of the Week respectively. Canton's Jordan Caroccio is the Rookie of the Week.

Masotta was outstanding for the Cardinals over the weekend, putting up back-to-back two-point games in a 2-0 weekend for Plattsburgh. Against Cortland, Masotta tallied assists on both goals, as they handed the Red Dragons their first conference loss of the season. The graduate student forward followed that up by scoring two goals against Canton on Saturday, as the Cards took down the Kangaroos 4-2.

Nease posted her third shutout of the season on Friday night, as she had a clean sheet against the No. 13 Cortland Red Dragons. The graduate student goaltender made 20 saves to help the Cardinals take over first place in the conference and stay undefeated in league play.

Caroccio had a big weekend tallying three assists as the Roos split a pair of SUNYAC games. She opened the weekend with an assist on the eventual game-winner in a 5-2 win v. Buffalo State on Friday as she finished with a +2 on-ice rating. On Saturday the rookie assisted both of the team's goals in a 4-2 loss at No. 4 nationally-ranked Plattsburgh finishing with a team-best +1 on-ice rating.
