Willick and Morgan Take SUNYAC Women's Lacrosse Athlete of the Week Awards

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The SUNYAC has picked Buffalo State's Vanessa Willick as the Women's Lacrosse Offensive Athlete of the Week while Cortland's Margaret Morgan is the Defensive Athlete of the Week.

Willick had two strong games for Buffalo State last week, scoring 10 points on seven goals and three assists. She also added 16 draw controls, picked up eight ground balls, and caused five turnovers. In a 19-12 victory over Potsdam on Saturday, Willick scored four goals and added a pair of assists for the Bengals. She also recorded six draw controls, caused four turnovers, and picked up four ground balls. The freshman had three goals and an assist, as well as 10 draw controls, four ground balls, and a caused turnover against Oswego on Wednesday afternoon.

Morgan posted a 2-0 record with a 5.50 GAA, 17 saves and a .607 save percentage as Cortland earned a pair of SUNYAC wins to move into the top spot in the conference. In a 16-3 win at New Paltz on Wednesday, she recorded four saves. Morgan then made a career-high 13 saves in a 14-8 home victory versus Geneseo on Saturday, handing the Knights their first conference loss. For the season, Morgan has posted a 12-3 record with a 6.53 GAA and a .462 save percentage.
