Geneseo Wins First-Ever SUNYAC Women's Lacrosse Championship

CORTLAND, N.Y. - Geneseo beat Cortland, 11-9, to win its first-ever SUNYAC women's lacrosse championship title, Saturday at the SUNY Cortland Stadium Complex. With the win, the Knights earned an automatic berth into the 2023 NCAA Division III tournament.

Geneseo's Tricia Curran, a junior defender, was named the SUNYAC Tournament MVP after totaling 14 ground balls, 10 draw controls, four caused turnovers and being a part of a defense that held Oswego and Cortland to just nine goals each in the two wins.

Elite 20

The SUNYAC Elite 20, an award modeled after the NCAA ELITE 90 program, recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the conference championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers. This year's women's lacrosse winner is Cortland's Gabriella Pastore, a sophomore adolescence education major with a 3.96 overall GPA.
