Oneonta Sports Information Department

ONEONTA, N.Y. - SUNY Oneonta Director of Athletics Ryan Hooper has announced Mackenzie King as the next head coach of the women's lacrosse team. King served previously as the assistant coach at RIT since 2022.

"We are very excited to welcome Mackenzie to our SUNY Oneonta Red Dragon family, as the next Head Coach of our Women's Lacrosse Program," said Hooper. "Mackenzie stood out during the interview process because of her passion for the sport and the energy she brought with her throughout the process."

During her three seasons at RIT, King scheduled practices and individual training for the student-athletes and directed youth camps and prospect clinics. She also volunteered with the RIT women's lacrosse team for ROCE6, a local empowerment program for the inner city of Rochester's youth through lacrosse.

Before RIT, King was the assistant coach at Brockport from 2020 to 2022. She also worked as an intern to the athletic director to organize bus schedules and weekly events for the department. King helped the university's coaches and athletes reach and maintain NCAA eligibility and collaborate with peers on achieving the school's strategic plan and budget.

King was the head coach at 3D Common Goal Lacrosse in Rochester, NY, from 2019 to 2021. In that role, she organized practices for all competitions.

"She has great knowledge of Division III athletics as a student-athlete and a coach," continued Hooper. "She brings coaching experience from some very successful women's lacrosse programs. I look forward to watching her instill her philosophy into a very talented team."

King was a 2019 SUNY Potsdam graduate, earning a degree in communications and business administration. She was also a four-year member of the women's lacrosse team. King went on to receive her master's of education in athletic administration from SUNY Brockport in 2022.
