Brockport Defeats Oswego in OT to Advance to SUNYAC Women's Lacrosse Semifinals

Brockport, NY – The Golden Eagle women's lacrosse team defeated Oswego, 11-10, in overtime during Saturday's opening round postseason game. Brockport now advances through to the SUNYAC Semifinals once again to face No. 1 seeded Cortland on Wednesday, May 1st at 3pm.
 
Brockport got on the board first, but Oswego would go on to win the first quarter, 4-2. Two more goals for the Lakers in the second would give them a 6-5 lead over Brockport at halftime. Then Oswego's strong third quarter made it a 9-6 lead going into the fourth.
 
In the final frame, the Green and Gold outscored the Lakers 4-1 to tie the game up by the end of regulation. Julia Quinlan scored off an Alayna Foos assist with 3:52 left in the fourth to tie the game up at 10-10.
 
Heading into overtime, the first team to score would win and advance past the first round of the SUNYAC Tournament. Sarah Kilburn played the hero for Brockport with the game-winning goal in overtime. The Golden Eagles take the win at home, 11-10, to begin its 2024 postseason journey.
 
Alayna Foos had a great day with five points, coming from her four goals and one assist. She also caused two turnovers and grabbed one draw control. Cassidy Burnash had three points on one goal and two assists. Burnash also added three draw controls and one groundball.
 
Sarah Kilburn (2), Paige Thowe (2), Tristan Davis (1), and Julia Quinlan (1) all found the back of the net against the Lakers goalie. Kilburn also led Brockport with her four draw controls and two groundballs. Arianna Reed made 10 saves in net for the Golden Eagles in the first round game against Oswego.
 
The Golden Eagles will now prepare for the SUNYAC Semifinals matchup with No. 1 Cortland. The game will be hosted by the top-seeded Red Dragons on Wednesday, May 1st at 3pm.
