Cortland senior attack Toni Cashman (East Moriches/Westhampton Beach) has been named a third-team Division III All-American for the 2024 season by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA). Cashman also is one of four Red Dragons selected to the IWLCA All-Empire Region team. Cashman and graduate student attack Amy Hoeffner (Bay Shore) were named to the all-region first team and graduate student defender Amanda Squillini (Stony Point/North Rockland) and graduate student attack Rachel Janis (Laurel/Mattituck) were chosen to the second team.
Cashman started all 20 games and registered 75 goals and 13 assists for 88 points. She led the team in goals and points and was third in assists, and her 75 goals are the sixth-highest single-season total in program history. Cashman also finished the season with 26 ground balls and 19 caused turnovers. In 74 career games, 69 as a starter, she has 193 goals and 62 assists for 255 points, along with 75 ground balls, 46 caused turnovers and 39 draw controls. She is tied for seventh at Cortland in career goals and ranks ninth in career points.
Hoeffner started all 20 games and totaled 53 goals and 15 assists for 68 points. She ranked second on the team in goals and assists and third in points. Hoeffner won 145 draw controls, the second-highest single-season total in school history, and also had 26 ground balls and 23 caused turnovers. In 97 career games, 67 as a starter, Hoeffner has posted totals of 147 goals, 39 assists, 186 points, 338 draw controls, 71 caused turnovers and 133 ground balls. She is Cortland's career leader in draw controls.
Squillini started all 20 games for the Red Dragons this spring. She tied for first on the team with 26 caused turnovers and was second with 43 ground balls while helping lead a defense that allowed less than nine goals per game. In 95 career games, 94 as a starter, Squillini ranks sixth in school history with 95 caused turnovers and also has 153 ground balls and 44 draw controls.
Janis started all 20 games and finished with 14 goals and 72 assists for 86 points. She led the Red Dragons in assists and was second in points, and her 72 assists are the third-highest single-season total in school history. Janis set a school single-game record with nine assists in a win at Oswego and also registered eight assists, tying the previous mark, in a victory at Buffalo State. In 70 career games, Janis has 49 goals and 115 assists for 164 points. She ranks sixth at Cortland in career assists.
Cortland finished the season with a 15-5 record. The Red Dragons won both the SUNYAC regular-season and tournament titles. Cortland went 1-1 in the NCAA Division III playoffs to tie for 17th place nationally.
