Amanda Squillini Selected 2024 SUNYAC Women's Lacrosse Scholar Athlete of the Year

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The SUNYAC selects Cortland's Amanda Squillini as its 2024 Women's Lacrosse Scholar Athlete of the Year as nominated and voted on by the conference sports information directors. 

Squillini was a 2024 USA Lacrosse Third Team All-America Defender, an IWLCA Honorable Mention All-American and an IWLCA Second Team All-Empire Region. This season she started all 20 games and was tied for first on the team with 26 caused turnovers and was second with 43 ground balls. Squillini helped lead a defense that allowed less than nine goals per game. In 95 career games, 94 as a starter, she ranks sixth in school history with 95 caused turnovers and also has 153 ground balls and 44 draw controls.

Squillini maintained a 3.44 undergraduate GPA majoring in teaching students with disabilities and a 4.0 graduate GPA in physical education.

In order to be eligible for the SUNYAC Scholar Athlete of the Year award student-athletes must prove both academic and athletic excellence by obtaining a minimum 3.30 overall GPA, be a starter or significant reserve for their team, and be at least a sophomore. The SUNYAC Scholar Athlete Award began in 2016-17.
